The exposure that I got there could only be dreamed of, back here in India. My advice to students would be: It is new York. Dont get carried away. Remember that you are an Indian there, and they have particularly strict rules against us. So, even before you know it, you might cross the line, and land in a soup. So enjoy, but remain focused on the task at hand.
We landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Airport is about 25 min drive from the institution. The baggage limit allowed was 54 kgs, which was more than enough. Excess baggage was allowed with an extra fee. Immigration checks were done at the port of entry. No Meet and Greet service was available.
The program was very well structured. There were 15 people from India on internship there. The projects were choice based. Professors were awesome, and the environment was very conducive for learning. We didn't need to attend any lectures. We had access to University library and Sports facility which were very good, indeed.
We lived in an apartment on rent. University provided hostel accommodation but that was very expensive. As for the social life, night life and weather, you dont have to worry a bit. Remember one thing: It is NYC! Phenomenal night life, very very safe city at all times of day and night. Weather was lovely: cold breeze, very clear skies, no dust.
Located in New York.
