Campus

International Students
Michigan State University has a large international student population of more than 5,000 students and scholars from more than 125 countries all over the world. The University’s long-standing tradition of support for international education has led to it being able to offer one of the largest sets of international student programs in the United States. Notable research discoveries at MSU include:
- Cross-fertilization of corn in the 1870s
- Homogenization of milk in the 1930s
- Anticancer drug cisplatin in the 1960s
- Materials that reduce dependence on fossil fuels in the twenty-first century
Michigan State was also recently selected by the United States Department of Energy to design and establish the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams – a $550 million facility that will advance understanding of rare nuclear isotopes and the evolution of cosmos.
