Scholarships
More and more students are choosing to study abroad, and many rely on financial help from their family or take out loans to finance their studies. It’s important to be aware that many universities and colleges offer scholarships and grants to international students to help make the financial side of studying abroad easier.
Although often highly competitive, scholarships are usually needs-based or are awarded for outstanding performance in a field of study, sport, performing art or other category. Some you apply directly for, through an institution or awarding body, while others you could be automatically gain if you achieve certain target grades or standards before you begin your course.
Some scholarships will fully cover fees, accommodation and living expenses, while others might just cover your study fees and materials, or offer a contribution towards those costs. However a scholarship doesn’t only offer financial benefits. Employers are impressed by candidates who have won scholarships and bursaries as it shows a level of achievement, as well as illustrating that an organisation felt you were worth investing in.
