Chartered in 1888, the University of Rhode Island has its main campus in Kingston with the Feinstein Providence Campus in Providence and Narragansett Bay Campus overlooking the West Passage of Narragansett Bay. The publicly-funded University offers undergraduate and graduate programs through the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Continuing Education, Engineering, Environment and Life Sciences, Human Science and Services, Nursing, Pharmacy, University College and Graduate School of Oceanography. In 2008-09, the University had 15,591 students enrolled in various programs.
